      Good, Reasonably Priced central accomodation

Great location just off the Magnificent Mile near the John Hancock Centre. Rooms are clean if a little dated and in some respects perhaps in need of a little TLC. However for the price in the centre of Chicago near all the attractions you can't grumble. The facilities in the room were great, air con, cable TV with all the channels you need, fridge, cooker and microwave. I would stay here again for a short break in Chicago. The hotel does not offer breakfast but there is free coffee in the lobby and plenty local diners and restaurants to pick from with varying prices.

Everything we needed, and good coffee

We stayed at DeWitt Place for 3 nights in March 2013 (yes, just before the blizzard!) and found it to be more than adequate for the 3 of us and for an excellent price. The staff were lovely, the location perfect, and we could just see a sliver of the lake from our window. Loved the old elevator. Just around the corner there was a small supermarket to stock the kitchen, although there are plenty of places to eat, and eat well.

Arrived at O'Hare around 2.45pm . The immigration hall was extremely busy but that was our expectation. It took us about 1.5 hours to clear US Border Control and Customs. We decided to take a cab ($40 not including tip) from the airport and the journey was about 30 minutes.

As we have been travelling for around 15 hours we took it easy for …

      Chicago - cold but fabulous

We walked to the BART this morning, figuring that was more reliable than the bus and cheaper than a taxi. Richard carried my pack as well as wheeling both he and Shell's big cases - what a guy! We made the airport in good time and the flight was fascinating, we flew over snowy mountains - maybe the Rockies - and then the brown fields of Illinois …

Today was the day we really got to understand why Chicago is known as 'the Windy City'. It was blowing a gale all day with very strong wind gusts. The wind was ice cold also coming off Lake Michigan. Our original plan was to go for a ride along the Lake front, but when we walked outside that idea went out the window, we could hardly walk let alone …

Today was a full on day of sightseeing in Chicago, but we had no choice, we had to take advantage of the beautiful weather we had finally been blessed with! Approximately 27 degrees and mostly sunny. Finally we were able to walk around comfortably in shorts and a singlet.
First on the agenda was the Willis Tower. We weighed up our options - …

Yesterday was our last day on our Moose Tour. It was a fairly boring day on the bus driving back to Toronto. We left at 8.30am and arrived just after 3pm. The traffic in the city was insane. We bid farewell to our Moose companions and headed out to our accommodation near the airport.

This morning our flight departed to Chicago around 10. …
