Spectacular Malta

... locally produced. We walked along the water, admiring the little fishing boats, all painted bright blue and yellow and green, each having a pair of eyes painted on the bow.
We made it back to the ship in plenty of time to dress for dinner. As we left the port after dark, the forts and walls were lit up. Simply magical.
Will try to send some pics with this.
Tomorrow a sea day. home Thursday.

A flying visit to say a quick goodbye

I've just popped over to Malta for a day & a bit (as you do!) to say a quick hello / goodbye to my parents (and bring them lots of goodies over for the last time in a while).

The weather is a little warmer than the UK, but not as warm as it's going to be in a week's time (ha ha ha).

Anyway, I'll keep this blog short so ciao for now!

The Costa Cruise Experience

... br>We really felt like we went back through the centuries to discover the exceptionally rich cultural heritage of the Tunisian capital Tunis. For years this place was the most important Mediterranean port until the Romans destroyed it in 146BC, we thought about a trip to archaeological excavations but didn’t fancy munity by the kids so gave it a miss. We employed a local guide to take us to all the good spots, but having paid the ...

Malta, wow

... your ever travelling is always one of the best things you can do, now my food comes with a 20% reduction, which is fantastic. On the first day here i went to the Malta experrience, which was really bad, but only cost 2 euros for an hour, so i can't complain. i also met some really great people and we went to a cocktail bar together, which was graet if not abit early in the day. There's More to Malta Than Meets the Eye

... also only made of civilian casualties. Malta had no military casualties This may have been because Malta had little or no military of its own, but also because most of the pilots in Malta were Allied airmen stationed in Malta. There were pilots from Britain, Canada, U.S.A., Rhodesia, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. One pilot said that the Siege of Malta made the Battle of Britain and the fighter sweeps seem "like child's play". One of the most famous fighter pilots ...

Unable to go back any further

... bade farewell my incredibly hospitable host and made the ferry crossing back to Malta, followed by a bus from Cirkewwa to Valletta. By this stage it had turned into a nice day, and as I had a few hours to kill I ventured back within the city walls to sip on a cappuccino at one of the many outdoor cafes. And that was that. My dream of visiting the Maltese islands and discovering my heritage had come true. Unfortunately not all went to plan, with the ...

Vittoriosa

... were incredibly clean. I have heard that the tourist boom has missed Vittoriosa for the time being, which is probably one of the reasons why it is like it is. However after speaking with some locals the general idea is that Vittoriosa is being kept as a bit of a play ground for Europe's rich and famous. There is a casino here and the boats in the marina were just breathtaking. I took a few photos of some of them up close and I am not really a boat person, but ...

Going Flat Out In Malta

Hello Kewlabahs! Since i last ´blogged´ i have been recovering from Global Gathering and hanging out with Barnesy in London. We have had a ball. Even though we haven´t done alot, as usual we were able to keep each other in stitches most of the time. I am now a huge fan of wigs and believe they are a gift that keeps on giving as the photos illustrate. I think at one point we had argued over whos turn it was to ...

On to Barcelona

... we ate dinner at the Orion, all of Malta cruised by our window. The shows have also been a lot of fun, with terrific singing and dancing, very professional. The shows are usually "revues", plotless series of production numbers, with lots of flash and glitz and spangly costumes, but we all enjoy them nonetheless. So, next stop Barcelona! We're doing about 19 knots/hour across the Med, it's 11,000 feet deep but calm, and overcast but warm today. More later, Jeff, Caroline and Zoe
