... we passed are drawn as dotted lines on the map. This means, that they are normally out of water. Now, most of them are full of fresh water (partly from the rains or the now melting snow, partly from wells that are full again (also from the rains)). It's amazing to see how little water can make an entire vallley green und lush.
More then one person proudly told us, that the water reservoirs are full of water. The Cypriots will need this water during the summer. ...

... dit jaargetij, de winter, bevalt haar niet, want het is te koud. Ik reken af. Ze kijkt naar mijn blote benen en vraagt of ik het niet koud heb. Ik leg uit dat ik op de fiets ben en dat me dat vanzelf warm maakt. Nog een "oh" en geklap. Waarop ze een zak met lekkers meegeeft en zegt dat ik die moet delen. Buiten laat ik de zoetjes aan Ludwig zien en we eten ervan onder haar ogen. Tevreden gaat ze verder met het boenen van de vloer. Wij gaan ook weer op weg met extra ...

... to climb into the Troodos mountains: again steep, up to ten percent, and with rewarding beautiful views. Downhill it was full of green valleys with farming (as on the coast, lots of citrus here: oranges and lemmons without end), by and by the landscape became dryer (lucky for us, the mmountain-rains of the last days are not that harsh anymore, we didn't have a drop today :-) and only wine and olives remained.

After this we had a walk round the shore area of cafes and shops towards the crusader castle but we baulked at paying to go in as others said there was little to see inside.

... much smaller than expected. Some people would be impressed by the power of the engines, I was more impressed by how colorful they were.





Then it was time to take the sails down. This, to me, is the even bigger spectacle than setting them. Because the guys are climbing in the masts and then have to tie up the sails. From below this looks funny and sometimes you only see pairs of legs ...
