Really a very extraordanary building is Khan Assad-Pacha, situated along Suq al-Buzuriyyah.This old khan (caravanserai) was built between 1751 and 1752 by the city governor As'ad Pasha al-Azem. It is one the most prominent khans of the old city, and covers an area of 2500 square meters. Caravanserai (or khans) are buildings specially built to shelter men, goodfs and animals along the ancient caravan route, in particular along the former silk roads.
