Takaisin Osakassa oltiin viimein kello 20.30 aikoihin ja käytiin vielä nopeasti pyörähtämässä Osakan-aseman lähellä olevissa valtavissa kaupoissa, etsimässä hiukan kaikenlaista tavaraa jatkoa varten. Nyt on pakko alkaa latautua jo tulevaan...

Jaahas ja tästä alkaa nyt todellinen humuviikonloppu! Tiedossa on kolme päivää silkkaa juhlaa, joten päivityksissä saattaa esiintyä pieniä viivästyksiä... :-)

Kagoshima --> Osaka & Kobe Lumiere

Day 6, Travel from Kyoto back to Tokyo

... of youth culture. Much like Time Square in New York .... lots of lights and lots of shops. There were thousands of people on the streets. Went to a fantastic noodle shop for dinner ... had an udon noodle bowl with a soft boiled egg. Also ate some deep fried noodle snack. It was all delicious.

Stopped at Starbucks again before cathcing the subway home.

Sorry not able to load any pictures today .. will put some up as soon as I can.

Ichi Ne Sake Bomb!

... for the day. Bridget, Eben and I ended up buying tickets to the sumo wrestling tournament down in Fukuoka the next day, a split second decision I will be forever grateful to have made. As a group, the result of all our pow-wowing was to yet again utilize our JR rail passes, and take the bullet train to Himeji to see the famous Himeji Castle. Of course, the train we got on to Himeji was the only train that our rail passes did not work on, as we soon found out when the ...

The upside of bureaucracy

... I checked in to my hotel and made my way out to the Korean consulate. Fortunately the two were just a five minute walk apart, and after completing the paperwork and handing over $65US I had nothing to do for the next 24 hours but explore. And that I did. I was staying in what seemed to be the most exciting part of the city, Dotonbori; a single street running alongside a canal, famous for its shops and restaurants, as ...

Sleepy heads

Students are dead to the world this morning as many of them stayed up as late as they could during their last night of `freedom`. Lucky for us the rain has stopped but it is still cloudy and windy. Students are going for one more buffet breakfast before boarding the bus to Osaka Castle! Everyone is looking forward to being reunited with family and friends tonight! See you soon!

... lunch. Actually, we ate our way through the Tsuruhashi market and headed back to the Hostel for dinner. Burp..excuse me. Our last day in Japan we went to the Aquarium in Osaka. It has the biggest fish tank in the world. Nice way to spend the morning before heading to the airport. Goodbye Japan and all that's new-age', convenient, sensible and cool about you...except for the signs at the train stations.

Conveying our thoughts back to them isn't working very well for me, so Jo does that because her body language skills are awesome XD The language difference hasn't made any impact on our trip yet. People have been nothing but polite and downright nice to us, even when we do the whole annoying-tourist-who-doesn't-speak-your -language thing :P I can't believe how easy it is to communicate ...

Being a Kid

... When it came my time, I had to keep it brief. Even bowing put too much pressure on a tumultuous stomach. Finally, we were done. I ran to the fence and lost my breakfast. As far as vomiting goes, I think I did a pretty good job. It was very casual and graceful, no mess. Nonetheless, it was pretty humiliating. No less than 30 people must have realized what I was doing. But here comes another difference between America and Japan. Had I done this back in the States, several ...
