... Jean Starr Walk, we learned more and more from yard to yard, as every volunteer prided themselves in sharing their own personal stories and insights about the koalas. Right at the entrance in yard one, we were introduced to rockstar and womaniser Barry, who in spite of his abnormal spine deformation (scoliosis) did a great job of driving his volunteer up the wall, when she attempted to change the towels on his tree trunk. The Motorway which turned into the Pacific Highway was great until Byron Bay where traffic slowed down and the divided road to be the new Pacific Holiday was being constructed. The road we were on was still good although there were times where it was only a 2 lane highway.
Brunswick Heads - a great alternative to Byron Bay ... IMO

... which is better than just sitting down. While we were there all the people in the water came running out because they had seen fins swimming in the water near them. Luckily it was not sharks but a couple of dolphins breaking the water. My 1st wild dolphins I have seen and they were so close to the beach. We then went to the koala hospital which was a little sad as the kolas were all in there for different reasons and some couldn't be released. But was nice ...

All 4 of us were in high spirits, our time at the Retreat had been wonderful but we were looking forward to a week of relaxing and not having to worry about work or waking up early. Fabien was looking forward to a steak and I would be lying if I said that thought hadn’t crossed mine and Chris’ mind too.
