Many properties here have just not held their value in the face of the economic times. We looked at many and it would be fair to say that a 2 or 3 bedroom home, with 2 or 3 baths, carport or garage and covered pool (on owned land) could be found for under $150,000. Taxes seem quite low as well. ...

The entrance sign says it is
certified as a "Blue Wave" beach by the Clean Beaches Council. Not sure exactly what this means but it was a different beach than many of the others in that it was more natural and certainly more rugged.
Heavy surf, lots of sandpipers and ring necked gulls. We plan to stop again and maybe try to find a shark tooth or two.
... halfway to Naples, to meet the other half of our yearly "golf friends" trip. Parisis (Pennsylvania) and us (native and future North Carolina) met Schmidts (Michigan) and Merritts (South Carolina) for cocktails and dinner. Had a great time, beautiful day. We re-fight the War of Northern Aggression every year at a different location - the girls all enjoy each others' company, and the guys love to golf together. It is a highlight of the year!
