So back I was to my apartment after an awesome day at Jungle Island Zoo, I caught the bus back to the hotel which was only a 10 minute ride. Had an amazing dinner back at the hotel topped off with a NBA finals that was on.

We arranged to meet in a Chili's at West Palm Beach. Chili's is not 'fine dining' by any means, but a nice experience in a very American setting. Family groups, a mixture of all races and types of people, no tourists (apart from us, of course). American sports on the TVs at the bar, Noisy and lively but with good, friendly and efficient service.

Day one was magic, the weather was brilliant, the sea was warm and the city was welcoming. We spent the day swimming, walking and exploring our little section of South Beach. It was also the day we opened our friend account. This was big for us. Sonny processed the entry. We've taken a photo of the ledger to show you our progress. We are hoping this ...

... past eight months. During my first round, I started with a trip to the Philippines, then worked my way eastward to Barcelona, Spain, stopping by home in Washington to repack. I took a 15-night cruise from Barcelona to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, aboard Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas with stops in Egypt and Jordan. I then went to Pakistan to see my friend Steve, a U.S. diplomat then stationed in Islamabad. I concluded the first round in Oman.
