... us. My legs nearly gave ip. Left over soreness from yesterday I think. The art work here is amazing. No pictures allowed so cannot show you. The domes are so high and it is incredible to think that it was designed and built in the 1200's. Assisi would be very quiet and peaceful place except for the millions of visitors each year to see the Basilica and the burial place of St Francis. I m excited because tomorrow we are off to ...

... rain started so we ducked into a nearby restaurant for dinner. Thunder and lightening and reasonable rain, but by the time we finished dinner it had basically stopped but we did make a purchase of an umbrella just to be safe. And the only times it rained, we have been inside a museum or restaurant and completely avoided ...

On the way back up we were greeted by a shepherd and many of his sheep grazing among the olive trees. Joey remarked how ...

October 8: This was our last day with our Italian host family and we laid didn't leave the house until 10:30am (so yes, a late start!). We met a friend for a caffe' (coffee) for lunch and then walked the town of Fabriano. We were treated to a special behind-the-scenes of a beautiful theater. This was right out of the movie Amadeus. Very limited (but beautiful) plush red velvet seat on the floor however the "cool" factor here ...

... It had a really cool town square and church at the top of the hill. There was a small fountain further down the main street that you are supposed to walk around 3 times for good luck. Of course we did! Enrico bought a lottery ticket right after that (and apparently the fountain thing did not work). We finished the day by having dinner at the country home to celebrate their family friend Adele turning ...
