    My home away from home

I spend 4-5 months every winter here...affordable accommodations right on the beach! Next to attractions like Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington museum, and minutes from Downtown and the Bayfront. Every morning I watch the sunrise over Corpus Christi Bay and walk on the beach.

    I love the Villa

I own this condo so I'm prejudiced...but I love staying here all winter...watching the sun rise over the bay, and walking on the beach. I hear the place is really jumpin' in summer--a new restaurant is going in just down the beach (Fajitaville Grille) and we're close to downtown, TX State Aquarium, and the USS Lexington museum.

    Disgusting

    from

I reserved a "Deluxe Condo" room. It was nowhere near such. It took me 1 hour to check-in. After parking, I was approached by someone of opposite sex for a hot date. Finally got to my room and just about died. It was so dark I could hardly see. The room was filthy and overall in very bad shape and the patio door wouldn't lock (which, my view from that patio door was a parking lot. I called the front desk and complained - they sent me to another room. Same as first room but seemed to have been painted more recently. I left that room, drove to front desk and demanded my $'s refunded and they did so. This is not somewhere you would want to ever visit again. Thank you.....

Best Kept Secret On The Gulf Coast

    from

My sister and I just returned from a weeks stay at the Villa Del Sol In Corpus Christi, Texas. We had a wonderful time! The accommodations were clean and comfortable and the view was out of this world. The only bad part of the visit was having to leave. I highly recommend this little bit of paradise. It is indeed the best kept secret on the gulf coast.

Pathetic Dark EXTREAMLY UNSAFE Hell Hole

    from

This so called "hotel" is a pathetic disgrace. It consists of approx.

200 dark, scary unsafe, Thug invaded condo rooms that have no security whatsoever. This is NOT a Hotel !!!

The rooms are dirty with filth and mold that has been growing on the contents of the rooms for what appears to be many years.

If you plan on visiting Corpus Christy Texas, avoid this dump with any and all cost. Stay at a Holiday Inn or Best Western Etc., because for the same amount of money if not even cheaper than what this "Hotel Hell" cost, the peace of mind from knowing that you will be in a clean, safe atmosphere and actually knowing you may wake up the following morning without being mugged, killed or eat up by the filth is defiantly worth it's weight in gold.

    Hotel hell

    from

this so called paradise, was nothing more than a drunkards hole. the villa also was lapse on its security, enforcement of marauding rugrats and druggers. our stay there was like being sentenced to hell. shame on these people. .......... p.s the city of corpus can be a fun place.

    Value is the Key

    from

We stayed there for the last weekend of August and were given a "deluxe" room. It had hardwood floors, new paint and appliances, and a great view of the water. It slept my family of 6 and for a condo, it is inexpensive compared to other hotels in the area who have "singles" or "doubles" for the same price that you can get a one bedroom condo for.

I agree, it wasn't the "Omni" but it met the needs of my family.

Kitchen was helpful also, got to save some money on restaurants.

    Disappointing

    from

After receiving a recommendation from a colleague, we reserved a weekend stay here. We were not impressed. The Room: Its overall condition was functional, but not very sanitary or comfortable. The room was infested with roaches. Because they do not have 24-hour maintenance on-site, I spent an hour late one evening unclogging our toilet. The back door lock did not work, but luckily we were not on the ground floor. The Locale: Although the beach was just outside our window, we spent most of our time across town at Mustang Island beach, because the beach was not sanitary (Note: a public beach access is located right next to Villa del Sol) I was afraid to take my shoes off in the sand (among the items we found were soiled diapers, beer cans/bottles, and broken glass). One positive point was the parking, which was adequate, safe, and convenient. Overall, this was not a pleasant stay and we will obviously not be returning.

    Villa del sol

    from

I stayed in an updated room. It was very nice with a great view of the beach and pool. It was super close to the Aquarium and Lexington.

Downtown - bayfront was a quick drive with some excellent seafood and good nightlife. Its not the Omni but I found it to bee a good overall experience.

    Dirt....not Sand

    from

We planned a family reunion and settled on the Villa Del Sol as our destination. Not a good choice. If you happen to get a room that is updated (sort of), then your stay might be worth about $60 a night. If you happen to get a room that is not updated then it was not only dirty, but beat up as well. Terrible experience and we will never stay there nor will any of our family members refer Villa Del Sol to anyone and, we had a discounted group rate of $95 a night!! Having the beach right out the door does not make up for the shabby conditions of the hotel. The grounds are pretty...the hotel spaces are filthy!

    Scary

    from

it was pretty unsanitary. It looked like it had not been dusted in about 10 years. It was tiny and there was shag carpet it was not the highlight of my stay.

    Behind the scene

    from

Villa Del Sol is NOT the Holiday Inn.

Villa Del Sol is a 411 unit condominium that aprox 1/2 (200) units are in private use. That means that when you visit the Villa Del Sol and you throw litter or leave towels around the pool, because you "Paid the Bill", keep this in mind. You are at MY home. The Board set it up that they benefit from your stay, BUT I (the 200+ private owners) get nothing from your visit. In fact if you did not come at all, it would cost me less.

But if you still decide to stay here, check with some of the private owners that can give you a better rate than the "front desk".

sand fest was going on the weekend that we arrived. our campsite was a couple of blocks from the beach so we were able to walk to sand fest for the three days. we got to see the progress of the sand sculptures. good music (kinda), fun food, sand, beach, happy people:.what's there not to like. well maybe the crowd, but we have found on this trip that most of the "good places" are crowded, but if you are not driving around in a car, it's not as bad. walking, biking is ...
