... markets were being held, and browsed the array of fun products on offer. Dotted along the beach front are a war memorial and statues celebrating local heroes (mainly life-guards or sportsmen) from times gone by. These are attractive and lovingly maintained and we spent some time reading the stories behind the statues. Music was playing from somewhere and the backdrop of the sun setting over the sea made for a very happy atmosphere.

...And I'm feeling good!

This morning starts as our days tend to, finishing the stuff we did not do yesterday.

So I update the blog, and Elwood does his fireman thing.

We decide we are each going to choose something we really want to do together today – to start the new year. We all choose going to the beach. That was easy! Noah adds in kite flying, and then I add in chocolate biscuit baking.

... around 12am to some rather chilly weather since we've been baking in Fiji for the past week. Atnas' friend Bryan who we are staying with for a while picked us up and we drove about an hour down the Gold Coast to Surfer's Paradise. The name says it all. It is a beautiful stretch of beach and the city has a very chill and laidback vibe to it. Definately a place where backpackers and travellers come to party and relax.
