... rain, absolutely soaked through from out 4 hours or so walking we had already done in the rain. But it was a must. Dave got 4 meat poutine, while I got breaded chicken. To be honest I didn't think a great deal of it. Cheese curds are weird. They don't taste like anything, they are just chewy and squeaky. It's about 20 degrees Celsius here and sunny on and off and I'll do a bit ...

... stage I was feeling desperate. I knew I had to get to Vancouver before the 11th, and if it meant having to leave my suitcase in Winnipeg behind, and somehow get it shipped on, then so be it. Besides, I remembered the Seinfeld joke about standby, and why they call it that, "it's because you end up standing there, waving bye, that's why they call it standby...!" So, already thinking I'd be heading back into the city again after this fell through, I handed over my suitcase and ...

... dream come true. The trip on the Amtrak train down by Lake Champlain and alongside the Hudson River in the late fall colours is something we will never forget. The beautiful water views, woodland and hillside views intermingled with huge expanses of corn fields ready for shredding for cattle feed made for great scenery. We spent 10 days in a flat Ian has under his house and went away for a few days now and then. We spent the time getting to know ...
