Zambrano 4 Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands
... new desk. When guests aren't here it functions as Courtney's office. The bathroom is ...well a bathroom but decently sized as well...which leads us to the kitchen/living room/Dining room, all crammed in a space about 10x20ft. We think our place was 'shaved' off the massive 'mansion' apartment next door (our land lady's). Oh well - it suits us, we love the area and are quite happy.
It is Friday ...
My travel companions and I learned several valuable lessons during our short time in Madrid. Just in case you're interested, here they are:
1. If you're looking to get into a club for free, dress the part and stand on the side of the road with other females, looking lost.
2. Do not be the first people on the dance floor. Apparently, that's an open invitation to be attacked by creepy men who think they can ...
... nouveau style restaurants and their pork stuffed with sausage in prune/port sauce was quite memorable. But probably our favorite meals were the numerous ones we had picnic style from the vegetarian saladbar/grocerystore next door where we loaded up on delicious and hard to find veggie items especially the Crepes de caviar de amaranto which we ate on four separate occasions. Amazing late night experiences included having churros y chocolate (skinny donuts and hot ...

Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands carlost... Granada The highlight of Granada is the Alhambra, which is a Moorish palace complex, started in the 11th century and occupied until 1492. It survived conquest, and French attempts to blow it up, and now impresses beyond words with its faded glory. The fort, or alcazaba, is the oldest part, and the plainest - simple brick walls and towers that dominate the area below. The real treat though are the royal retreat of generalife and the Nasrid palaces. Both sites make use ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands mlc... Foods Madrid. It's around 2 p.m. and as we enter through the doors, a lone man in a black suit is pacing back and forth in front of a podium. Not much noise emanates from the dining rooms. I thought by now the place would be packed with locals eating lunch. As we wait along with the lone businessman, the host finally shows up after 10 minutes and escorts us to a small dining room. There are only two other groups of people seated behind us. Along the walls are black and white ...
Madrid, Spain nofixedplans... and now she may be sent to jail for her involvement with him. Well when the press tries to interview her, her only response is "papaya". She won´t say anything else. They ask her what she thinks of the allegations against her and she responds "papaya, papaya". HILARIOUS.
I put pics up on myspace so you can see them there. :-) By the way... the DEFAULT ring tone on my cell is REM´s "Losing my Religion"... quoi? ¿What is this place? Later dudes.
Time to leave Faro and it was on the overnight train to Madrid. The first night we where pretty tired but i managed to find my way down to the hostel bar to which was packed with Aussies it was like being at home again. They where all on this bus about tour similar to a contiki tour. It took some motivating but finally managed to con Adam into coming out and having a drink. So we partied there until they ...
Madrid, Spain hastie... Quite a few Picasso's, some wonderful stuff by Miro and lots of other big names are spread throughout this immense space. We really had to restrain ourselves in the bookshop at the end of our visit. Museums Just for something a bit different we checked out the Archeological museum, the biggest of its kind in Spain. Clare was hesitant to say the least, but we both really enjoyed the exhibition which chartered human endeavor from pre-history all the way ...
Madrid, Spain mhaebichHey everyone, Well up until now we have been on the straight and narrow, but here is the real deal. In the midst of the 51 degree weather *we don't want you to be too jealous, so we'll throw in the heat factor*...there have been some pretty funny things going on... 1. The Spanish herb lady. Let me explain. All over Spain there are little ladies who try to shove rosemary your way and make you pay for ...
