After parking up we managed to find our way to a tram stop and bought an all day travel card which was only €7 each, we were a bit confused for a while as to whether we were buying the right one but it allowed us to get on all the trains, buses and trams we wanted to during the day so was spot on.     ... come in from the kitchen. He spoke limited English, but wanted to go through the menu with us. He was clearly excited about the menu and after hearing what was to come, we perked up. What did follow was a six- or seven-course meal, with each course better than the one before. All of us were simply gushing about the quality of the food as we savored every course. This was, by far, our best meal in Spain, and was on par with the meal we had at Sessente in Lisbon. ...

    ... our van. It meant that every time you met a car coming in the opposite direction, if you could even see it coming around the bends, you would have to slow down and judge if the road was wide enough for you to pass. It made for rather harrowing driving, and not very relaxing -- at least for the driver (me).

    ... along the Mediterranean was a toll road, as in Portugal, it had significantly more traffic. Still, the drivers were incredibly civilized and really respected the stay right/pass left mantra. Driving in both Portugal and Spain just highlighted to me what lousy drivers we are in America. We're absolutely dreadful.

    If you have been following the blog for the last few weeks you will have spotted the regular pattern of time by the coast with interspersed with trips inland for climbing. We had visited this area back in 2006 and had really enjoyed it. It has some stunning cliffs and gorges high up in the hills at around 1000m above sea level.
