Sun, Sea and Phi Phi
... beach, with clear blue water. It was also extremely hot! Later that afternoon (after psyching ourselves up for the hot hike back) we again trekked up to the highest point of the island to watch sunset. We were so hot and sweaty on arrival at the top that our clothes were literally soaked right through! Luckily everyone else seem to be suffering just as much! Heavy Hearted

After having a lovely dinner at my favourite stall that night, Vanessa, Tia, Rich and I headed to the beach to sit by the rocks. We spent a good couple of minutes just getting comfortable and listened to a nearby hotel band playing Elvis Presley songs throughout the night. Other jobs we had were to shovel elephant ****. Which scorpians like to live in apparantly. So we had to dodge scorpians as they can hurt just a tad. We would also water elephant poo to make mulch, clean up elephant enclosures, build enclosures, sweep up left over elephant food & scatter mulch over sugarcaner fields. All in the blazing heat of Thailand. It wouldn't have been as tough if not for the heat. It really was bloody hot !!!!!!!!!!!

Four days in Phuket
Arrived at Phuket mid - morning following a long and somewhat bumpy flight due to turbulence over Sumatra ( due to monsoon). We were met with our hire car and went straight on to our accommodation at Chom Tawan which is very close to Bang Tao beach on the west coast of the island.
We were struck by the amazing standard of driving! There is basically no road sense whatsoever, with cars, motorbikes and scooters all vying for space. Indicating is not the norm ...

We were picked up at 8:30 am for our tour to the Phi Phi Islands. We were brought to the Ao Nang pier and met by our very nice tour guide from Sea Angel Tours.
