... area, which is a great spot to practice, being here in mid-desert. We saw several fighter-bombers come in to land. I also have a few shots of these planes.


Fallon is a town of about 5,000 folks. We're parked in a Casino RV Parking Lot, which suits us just fine. We had a good lunch in the cafe and "invested" a few not-very-hard-earned dollars at the machines. No luck, no foul...

... place was packed! Huge line at check in, with screaming kids running around everywhere. Didn't help that I wasn't in the best of moods. Some kid was running up and down hitting people's legs, while his parents were glued to their phones. Thankfully the kid took one look at me and my face and decided messing with me wasn't a good idea. My room was lovely! Was pleased there ...

... We were disgusted to learn $5 for the hire of a luggage cart with a refund of a grand 50 cents, so needless to say we only got one, and struggled with the excess to the car rental depot.
Thankfully the drive to Carson City and our hotl was a short 30 mins, but poor Paul was totally exhausted physically and mentally by the time we hauled our gear to our room.
Thank goodness we're here 2 days not the 1 we feared!.

It took my oldest son explaining things to me ("odd numbers go east and west; even numbers go north and south") for it to begin to make sense. And even then, I lived here for quite a while before I could appreciate the "east-west"-ness of 580, because it seemed pretty darn-near north-south to me.

Anyway, trace the line of Reno's 580 from the center of Reno to south of Carson City. Does that look even remotely "east-west" ...
