... two more in the Daintree region split by lunch and a coffee break, but generally keeping moving to try and see as much as possible, mainly cassowary as apparently this is one of the best areas to see the biggest rainforest bird, which can stand up to 9 foot! Happy with our endeavours and the gorgeous scenic and forested drives, we ferry back out of the rainforest and head back to the pretty ,quaint town of Port Douglas to drop off Elliot and Hannah, before heading back to ...

Crazy! It's polar opposites to Sydney here in pretty much every respect! I'll upload some pictures from ...

... too happy to honk a horn for no apparent reason. My walk lasted a good hour or so and took me right out to the edges of Cairns. I aimed for a shopping district and then curved back in on a main road that took me past a number of retail outlets and what looked like an Australian football stadium. Mostly, I spent my walk trying to clear my head and forget about the task I'd set myself. But occasionally an idea popped up and I dismissed it. Back ...

... it. Happy days. No dramas. We picked up a hire car in Cairns - a cute automatic Toyota Yaris - none of us had driven an automatic before so it took 2 years before we worked out how to shift the gear stick. Our first stop was the Daintree River, just north of Cairns. Not expecting much, we were welcomed by a lovely chap called Adam (the croc whisperer), who took us on a private cruise (ballin'). Turns out that he was seriously on point with the fast facts ...
