... of for anyone planning to visit is that the park doesn't take dogs. While we have been here, we have attended three social events organised by the park. The first was a free sausage sizzle, held to raise money for charity. Russell, one of the owners, had signed up for the Cairns to Karumba bike ride (which finishes today actually). There was a silent auction of four different tours and a collection box. We bid on all four but lost out on ...

... time to head back to Cairns but there was no chance of a boring 90 minute drive with Sid at the wheel. It was basically a party on the bus with disco lights, loud music and some games. We've done a lot of excursions on our five month trip but this was definitely one of the best! ... is all organic. Everything tasted lovely

Then we cruised up to Mount Hypipamee National Park and had a look at the Crater, then onto the Bloomfield Swamp to see if we could see the Brolgas coming in, no luck I think you needed a huge lens to even see them as the lookout was a long way from the swamp.

Bought tea, lasagna and salad and came back to the van feeling way to full.

The second stop of our trip with Mac and Nancy brought us to the town of Cairns in northern Queensland. This is the main jump off point to visit the well known Great Barrier Reef (GBR). The beach front surroundings where stunning and the table top highlands where just as beautiful. Of course during our time in Cairns we explored the GBR, in fact we loved it so much we all went twice! It was about a 40 mile boat ride out to the reef ...
