    ... a BBQ. In Australia there are numerous public BBQs that are free to use. In cairns there are hundreds along the esplanade overlooking the sea so we took advantage of one of these and made a couple of homemade burgers. A lovely way to spend our last evening despite the rain hammering on the shelter above us!     ... by the sea we were thrilled to sea a group of pelicans on the beach. We hadn't realised but this is the Ironman weekend in Cairns and everywhere is completely taken over by this event.     ... gondola for just a few dollars more. Why not? I paid the extra fee and was given the special pass. I walked to the line with a smile on my face.

    Well.... Here's why not: the glass bottom gondolas only come around every 6th or 7th gondola. And... everyone else seemed to have the special pass also. The gondolas seat 5 people.
