Jet-lag, chocolate and a glass of Stella

A travel blog entry by alliemtanner on Jan 28, 2015

It seems fitting for my first full day in Belgium to have a glass of Stella; after all, I am living in the city where it comes from. Leuven is actually home to the headquarters of the world's largest brewing group, Anheuser-Busch InBev. The company also makes Corona, Budweiser, Leffe, Bud Light and many others holding 25 percent of the global beer market.

Leuven is the capital of the province of Flemish Brabant in Flanders, ...

Today we slept in until way too late. Kathy's sister is taking advantage of the Belgian healthcare system (she works as a wedding planner/make up artist). She's a citizen here because her mother is and she gets much more affordable care here than she would in the states, its still not free though.

So while they were out, we took 1.5hour bike ride all along Leuven with Kathy's Uncle ...

We are all excited to arrive at Bangkok tomorrow noon but first the boring plane ride. Wellens, doe ...

... 30. Unfortunately, nothing is as easy as it seems because we accidentally boarded the wrong train at the station which was taking us in the opposite direction that we needed to go! We figured it out early on - thankfully - and corrected our error. Unfortunately, with the error came a delay in our arrival which was around 3:30 pm. Brugge was a great trip nonetheless! It's an old town that has a very medieval feel to it. There ...

And wouldn't you know it - stepped outside the hotel and it was
snowing. So scarf and beanie weather today. The site wasn't too
difficult to get to, and surprise surprise, parking was easy (almost
unheard of in Europe). The Atomium structure is quite impressive. The
silvery metal balls glisten in the sunshine (it has ...
