... the size of the boot (noticing the bottles of alcohol I had stashed in it). Once we arrived back at the B&B I then had to join the 80 year old Belgian couple also staying when in reality I wanted to go to sleep, but I was offered beer (and I don't think he believed me when I said I didn't drink...) and had to make small talk with the elderly. The man used to be a pilot but was also quite patronising when I said I was going to get the train to Brussels the ...

In mid-October we were lucky enough to have both of our mums come to visit!

... I'll talk about as I work on them. The office is composed of just 5 people, 5 very productive people: Dominic (my boss), Amandine, Yulia, Tamara, and Linda. Everyone is from a different country- France, Ireland, Austria, Russia, and Germany I think- and speaks about 3 languages, which really makes me wish I had taken up another language in addition to Latin. Despite my lack of being cool and international, they're all so nice and welcoming. They like my "accent" too, which I ...

... of fries with a slather of creamy, tangy mayonnaise.

The fine eats continued with the following day trip to Bruges, described as the ‘Venice of Belgium’. Whilst Brussels is a lovely city, Bruges is what the mind conjures when one thinks of Europe; tiny cobblestone pathways lining quaint little homes that seem to pile on top of one another. We timed our arrival early so as to have the town to ourselves for the morning, taking leisurely strolls ...
