It has been a wet old day from start to finish which we think is the first time that has happened during our entire trip! Not bad eh! We left our pretty little valley camp site and headed down to Carlisle. On the way we stopped off at Lockerbie which was the unfortunate site of a plane crash in 1988 after it was blown up by Libyan forces. There was a memorial to those lost that day, in the Remembrance Garden next to the church but just as we ...

Saturday we have a start and end point but no specific places we simply must see. It's only a little over an hour to Allendale Town our next stop. First we go to Penrith Castle. But I still didn't buy anything. So that is two in a row. MDH must be ...

... met up with us and the drinking continued! It got to midnight and me and Victoria called it a night but on the way we found the most amazing pasta place that was still open! It was like you chose what pasta you want and then choose 4 toppings, I got chorizo, sundried tomato, bacon, pesto and parmisan and like a tomato based sauce! It was AMAZING!! So it was a good night! ...

... Keswick, where we braved the hordes - well what else is there to do in the Lakes District on a wet Sunday than go shopping? We had lunch (Charlie voted his fish and chips the best yet) and found a launderette to do a couple of loads while we ate. It did remind me of Pauline in Eastenders!
Our final stop was the Castlerigg Stone Circle (another 4,500-year-old set of standing stones) and then we headed west into Northumberland ...
