... at the time as the rantings of a mad man in decline. It has since been revealed via the Freedom of Information act that he was in fact being monitored by Hoover's FBI organisation, who knows whether this was what tipped him over the edge and was a factor in his severe writers block, which is oft credited as the motive for his suicide....sad ending either way.

We woke up in Salt Lake City and found an amazing and overwhelming breakfast at The Pig and the Jelly Jar. Waffles for the kids, pork belly and kale creole benedict for Amy, and chicken and waffles for David. Then there was some hotel swimming, laundry, and much-needed showers. We explored Temple Square a little bit, but didn't need to stay long. Our best find in SLC was RubySnap, a cookie shop with about 15 different kinds of cookies to swoon ...

... for about ten miles. Here we followed Deadwood Creek up to Stanley and also observed a great number of kayakers on these rapids. After Stanley we again changed scenery to another scenic highway and enjoyed another beautiful drive down to Ketchum. We had not been to Idaho before and were very impressed with the grandeur of each and every of this days ...
