This morning I begin my 20 plus hour journey to the Solomon Islands. This is a part of a museum exchange programme between the Museums Association of the Caribbean (MAC) and the Pacific Islands Museum Association (PIMA). The exchange is supposed to last 7 weeks, but this blog will not look at the details of the exchange, but rather give a inside view of the island, its people and my experiences while I am here in the Solomon Islands.

... so we could see the waves crashing just beyond our table. The food was excellent and Mr Babb was really on form telling us stories and reminiscing with Claire. We did drink a toast to absent friends Andy and Lisa, cheers guys!

We’ve had an absolutely fantastic stay in Barbados thanks really to Lisa and Alvan, we sure wouldn’t have tried some of the things we did without you (especially the pigs tail)!

... in sight I start sprinting. I was aiming on passing this lady who has been in my sights the whole race. For some reason this old lady in the crowd was shouting "Slow down!". I was thinking screw you old woman. I'm taking this! I did overtake the lady and my race was now finished! I got my finisher's medal which was adorned with flying fish, I guess that's the national animal or fish. Got my post race snacks ...

... Hotel. Now its hot!

The adventure begins immediately. Starving, I quickly changed – ooo, pretty white – to find some food. I headed to the beach and sat down at the bar. In no time 2 guys sat down and we started talking. Turns out one was the doctor on my ship, the other the Director of Operations. Ya! (they bought my beerJ)
