... When we got done with the trail I was advised by Kristi and an end had just come to our days of off roading. Something about "Never Again" followed by a middle finger salute told me that it was going to be another five years or more before I could talk her back into this type of adventure. We ended the day at Slow Groovin BBQ. A heaping serving of Poutine, a few cold beers, and some good BBQ and all was good in the world ...

What a day! First on the list was the Stanley Hotel. We took the tour and found out the hotel was where Stephen King was inspired to write The Shining, but none of the movie was filmed there. We got to see a few of the main rooms and learned about the twin brothers who built the hotel in 1907. It's supposedly haunted by several ghosts, and Jim Carrey was freaked out by the room he was in and left the hotel in the middle of the night.

... Gothic is a biological research laboratory in the Elk Mountains. Gothic was a neat town. Lots of research buildings and cabins. One store which sold ice cream and snacks.

To get to Gothic requires a 4WD vehicle as it was a dirt road for about 15 miles. With the recent rain, it was quite muddy. But the RAM was up to the task. We learned that another mile up the road we would find a trail that lead ...

We headed to Aspen early in the morning. It was our attempt to see some wildlife. Well the scenery was beautiful but we didn't see any wildlife. We stopped off at a scenic overlook of the San Juan mountains. In addition to the mountains we also seen the large reservoir. No real roads to get to the lake, you have to do some off roading.

We arrived in Aspen at about 11am. We visited the John Denver Sanctuary. As a kid, ...
