After our first night in our new place we were enjoying just having a bed to lay in and not being in a rush to get ready.

We skyped with Darrens Nan and Granddad for a while and showed them the place then got ready to go out. The colours of the leaves are all different autumnal shades of reds, orange and yellows so we wanted to go to Vail to see only took us about 10 minutes to drive there ...

... that was not really the initial plan which was a stroll along the US/Canadian US 2 plus a drop to the pacific coast after seeing the glacier Nationals parks but...

I have no regret as it has been a long time that I have not spent time with Theo and our duo/trio has been working like an old engine, a little bit of cracky sounds when the exhaustion was coming upon us but otherwise same energy and tolerance ...

Aspen reminded me a bit of Banff, cute little ski/snowboard town with lots of hikes in the summer.

Unfortunately, I did not realize how high up Aspen is (2400m above sea level) and once we started our hike at Maroon Bells, I felt quite dizzy and tired. Turns out I must have had some sort of altitude sickness at 3000m above sea level... That happened on our hike in Santa Fe as well.. well, now I know :)

I recovered quickly and finished the hike at least...

... where my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew live. When I saw my nephew Owen's eyes light up at my arrival my spirits were lifted and I gave him a big hug. He's the cutest little boy and we had a blast playing together for the rest of the night. I read him his bedtime stories and tucked him in to pleas of me being there when he wakes up again.
