Last day!

Spent the afternoon playing games with D & B and then went to pack. We were going to go for a walk but decided not to chance it.

Portugal, last summer holiday!
... as it took us a decent hour just to walk around the whole thing. Lots of old cannons still in their spots from years ago and some blow holes in the middle which was good fun to stand over. After all this we had an amazing Italian dinner and were even given a free glass of port each which was rather tasty – great way to start the trip!
The next day was Lagos, the weather was overcast with a few heavy ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Cerro Mar Atlantico Touristic Apartments Albufeira
Excellent
The appartments were a little difficult to find but on arrival the staff were very freindly and the appartments were well equipped and very clean. Althought there was a hill and steps,it was only 10 mins walk to the beach and the town, which provided plenty of places to eat, drink and entertain you.
Will definatly go back.
Albufeira non the dearer
First impressions of the complex were that the appartments were about twice as large as you would normally get in a popular resort in Portugal.
We don't think we have been anywhere , where you can lay in bed and just tweek the curtains and look over the town and see the oceon ...quite stunning.
The only drawback is that there are 104 steps down to the town square but great for keeping fit.
Good bar ...nice pool area and a roof garden with a bbq
Definetly recommend.
Great accommodation - pity about the diggers
This was our first experience of the Algarve, and we had a really good time. The self-catering accommodation was easily the best we have stayed in - our previous experience of going s/c was to the Greek Islands. But the accommodation at Cerro Mar was in a different league - clean, extremely spacious and well equipped. Staff were also friendly and helpful.
The trek up and down the hill was a bit of a pain at times, but having enjoyed many good meals at the wide variety of restaurants in Old Town we were grateful for the exercise! And if we didn't feel up to it there was a courtesy mini-bus available during the day and/or taxis readily available at all other times.
Previous reviewer does have a point however about the building work - there is already work going on alongside the apartments, and another site being cleared in front of the block we stayed in. Could be a bit of a nuisance when it's all in full swing.
Disappointing!
Considering the 5 star reviews this did not live up to expectations. We only went because our usual place was full and I can assure you there are far nicer places to stay. Granted the apartments are clean and a good size but the decor is tired and dated. Our apartment was cold when we arrived and took several hours to heat up. There is a steep hill down into town and even going at speed it was stretching it by saying it would only take 3 minutes and it was considerably longer coming back up. To make it worse the steps to the town had been dug up and were virtually impassable. The worst was the building close by and the constant hammering of the pile drivers which meant it was not really possible to stay in the apartment in the day. This building is in its early stages and more ground is being cleared for more construction work - It certainly wont be finished this summer and maybe not by next summer either. I would give this a miss for a couple of years.
The Best Around 2
Since my last review I've stayed here twice more and once again cannot fault the facilities or staff, would give it easily 10 out of 10. One tip for people with younger children who may not like the outdoor pool ( maybe a little cold for younger children ) when booking go for block 3 entrance level if possible not as nice a view and not as much sun during the day but you do get free use of the heated indoor pool and sauna etc.
Great holiday with spectacular views
just come back from a great holiday
the apartments were excellent
Fully fitted kitchen, air conditioning, high quality apartment
Great facilities in the complex
Ideal for lazing around sunbathing at one of their pools
A lunchtime beer was pleasant as I reckon this was best beer in Albufeira
Evening dip in indoor pool after a sauna and off down to fisherman's beach for a great meal from one of the excellent restaurants
and the portugeuse people are much friendlier than the spanish
Perfect situation for old town centre
We spent a very enjoyable easter week at the apartments after booking with an owner. which provided us with a cheap week
ok there are steps up from the town but without them we would not have the panaramic views from the hotel terraces The complex itself is reasonably flat.
Apartments are spacious, we had outdoor pools, indoor pool, sauna, gym
It was a great expedition every night exploring the old town choosing from the many excellent restaurants
We will definately go again, the best apartments we have stayed in.
The Perfect Portugal Get-away Experience
My wife Maureen and I were attracted to the Cerro Mar in every travel book we opened. It just seemed to be the right place, not too close, not too far away from the beach and village. We awoke in our wonderful apartment overlooking the ocean to the sounds sof lambs in the field and a pan flute playing in the village, wafted up by the soft breezes from the sea. The apartment was fully equipped with all the amenities one would want, from double sink to full sized fridge. We ate oranges for breakfast picked the day before in Spain. The staff and service were great, the restaurants in town were many and varied and excellent.
We would go back again and have recommeneded it to our friends over and over. If only we could have stayed longer than 2 weeks! It was so relaxing. Doug & Maureen Vincent
Brilliant location
very comfortable apartments in an enviable position, staff all very friendly and apartments well furnished.
A Really enjoyable holiday!!
We booked cerro mar apartments as a last minute deal at the travel agents, so were slightly concerned about what to expect when we got there!!
We stayed in cerro mar 3 which is just across the road from the main block of apartments. However block 3 is very new and up to date. The apartment was spacious and very nicely furnished. It even even had remote controlled air conditioning!!
Cerro mar 1 and 2 are not quite so modern but are still comfortable (no air conditioning though)
There is not an outdoor swimming pool on block 3 so you have to walk the short distance to the main block of apartments. The sun beds around the swimming pool get taken very quickly in the morning so if you prefer the pool to the beach it could mean getting up early to get a space!
The apartments have a small grocery store which provides a decent choice of food.
It is a short walk (down the steep steps) to the square where all the restaurants and entertainment happens at night. But it easy enough to get a taxi if you dont fancy the walk up or down the hill.
We were extremely pleased with the apartments and had a really enjoyable holiday!!
