    ... right and I was inside the departure lounge at City Airport by 6.55. In time to have caught the Amsterdam flight, as it happens, which was still 'Boarding' at that point.

    ... because of the water eddies affecting us. Thank goodness we had the tide with us and not against us too!! When we turned on to the Spui, it was not supposed to have a tidal flow and if it did it should have been with us, BUT it did have a flow and was quite strong against us! This section is manually controlled and normally has a flow going north, and by jove it did, but not as much as the Oude Maas.

    Fine and sunny 19-29deg, 30km, av. 12.5km/h, tot. 1782km. Another short day in the saddle; we are winding down to the finish. And another nice day weather wise. A hearty brekky, a bicycle ride on off-road paths and blue skies; life doesn't get any better than that. Got away from the motel at 8:45am and found the first route number to Leiden near the Central Station. We then just headed in the general direction ...
