As noted in the previous entry, we were back in the air, bound for Ft. Lauderdale by 13:02. The good news in all of this is we were still in first class. Our lunch was wonderful:

... of Miami. Not actually a bad thing, but many comparisons could easily be drawn to the very poor countries we'd just left and we were reminded how lucky we were to be born in Canada. Thanks Moms!

... There were like a dozen churches along about a 100m strip of the highway, the houses were really ramshackled and run down and there were lots of scary-looking people loitering and staring. Eventually we made it to our hotel, which was in a safer part of town. We had tea at a Mexican restaurant which was really tasty and then we popped into a "pet supermarket" to browse. The kids were excited to see and hold hamsters, rabbits and ferrets - animals which we don't see at home
