"What's the emission factor of a couch?"

... take on it. *wink*" I was kinda saved by the scientist from NCAR who overheard this and made up some ridiculous answer, thank god. Geeeese. I spent an hour or so talking with maybe 3 of the most knowledgable people at the conference, including the two that semi-ostracized me yesterday. They were incredibly encouraging, helpful, and supportive of what I am doing. They gave me some great ideas and made some useful comments that I know will help me later on ...

... Norway. The people all seem to speak English, thankfully! I just need to find some food and I'll be set.

The ride to the airport in New York was quite funny. This Indian-American guy who was in my dorm (the snorer), ended up being in the same shuttle as me. While we were waiting for it he spent the whole time conjecturing as to how they knew how many people to pick up and if we would be on the same shuttle ...

... of lakes and fjords….and it’s just outside Oslo about half an hour. We drove around and took some picture. It was still bright at 11:00 PM and good enough for pictures. The photos that I took were mostly between 10 and 11 PM.

Finally, we went to their home which, took, has a breath-taking vista of a valley. We sat outside on a deck and talked until 1:00 am. It was dusk…and they said that dawn ...

... we wanted to see what was going on, which was a bit of a hassle but it forced almost an adventure out of every time I would normally just glance to my side. After settling in it was time for the customary exploration session. Most facilities were above us on decks 7 and 8 although just above on deck 11 was the main access to the upper deck upon which one could walk the entire length of the ship and see everything- it was very windy and snow was ...

... in 2006. All in all, a good see. Kon-Tiki Museum - All about Thor Heyerdahl and his exhibitions across the ocean on reed rafts. I guess it was pretty interesting, and I know there was a scientific point to be made, (that there could have been Old World influences on the South American cultures, or something along those lines? I forget.) but in the end I just couldn't get past one thing - why would anyone WANT to travel across the ocean on a reed ...

... merchant buildings along the foreshore. We tasted lots of the different varieties of salmon; hot salmon, smoked salmon, garlic salmon. But we drew the line when the fisherman was trying to get us to try whale. He was saying 'come on you only get to try it here and Japan' it made me feel sick I could never live with myself if I ate whale, nor would I support any fisherman who condoned whaling so we thanked him for the salmon and left. We stayed the night by Ulvick a beautiful town ...

THE STORY SO FAR

... i find it a depressing city. I'm really sorry, i don't mean to offend anybody from Glasgow, its just the opinion of one guy. I don't know whether it was the sight of track-suite clad youths drinking beer on street corners at 10am, or if it was the horrendous thunder and lightning storm that hung over the city for what seemed like an age, or if it was even the flock of gulls that eerily flew over the bus station looking like something out of Alfred Hitchcock's film the birds ...

... to Thor Heyerdahl and the National Gallery of Art. The art gallery is relatively small (free entrance) and does not overwhelm with the collection. Nevertheless, the Edvard Munch's room with an immortal "Scream" painting is definitely worth visiting. As a general, his style is unique and very interesting. Kon-Tiki museum was really interesting to me and I spent more time there. Thor Heyerdahl ...

First Day in Oslo

... for another 2-3 hours. So in the mean time I was advised by the staff to leave my backpack in the luggage storage area and possibly do some sight seeing. So I walked out and decided to walk around and explore a bit before it was time to formally check into my room, and then I would continue my tour of Oslo after. As usual, I walked down streets and all that interested me. I believe during this brief tour of Oslo I ...
