... in the present day streets. It’s a quiet, non-touristy sort of place with plenty of second-hand book shops, the City Café which does excellent coffee and cakes and some big steps covered in mosaic scenes relating to the town. Coffee stop over, we continued on the road to Noosa to find the Big Pelican. This was a really good find! One of my favourite Big Things! It was built in 1977 and used to be a floating, motorised Big Thing moored on the lake ...

Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia pacificocean... in there also, bought a bag of choc. covered ones, but they were quite exspensive. Headed back to the beach and a small shallow inlet were the Lumkes were and the kids had a swim, and their family was barbequeing. There are propane barbeque stations set up on all of the beaches, really nice. It was so nice to see them before they head off to Thailand, said our goodbyes and then back to our campsite for the night. Tomorrow we head inland to the Outback!!
Caloundra, Queensland, Australia shannonm... to let on to that fact. We finally docked at the pier to the island and we were greeted by a very friendly chap who told us that what we were experiencing was actually liquid sunshine, so we really ought to be smiling! As well he said that as the dolphins were already wet, they didn't actually mind the rain, so as long as we could put up with it we would definately still be on for tonight. We were taken by golf buggy to our villa, I think it ...

Sippy downs, Australia mirka_blog... purchase of walkie talkies provided only a minimal reassurance. Brendan again saw a striped snake, which was likely the very toxic rough-scaled snake (what Abe had called a Tiger Snake) and came within a few feet of it before noticing it across the path. Each of us had moments of private horror when a scurrying thing near the path, some sluggish reptile in the overcast stirred only miliseconds before being tread upon. An uneasiness had taken over our ...
Caloundra, Australia mattadorOminous clouds hung low in the sky again this morning, but the rain held off as we had breakfast and eventually drove to Buckley's Hole to do more weeding. Just after break, when we were preparing to switch gears into some tree planting, the skies opened up once more. Shane led us on a brief tour of the island and we then returned to the cabins to wait out the storm. If it quit in time, we planned to return and plant in the ...
