Apparently, this is the time of year for the turtles to lay their eggs. Our teacher told us that they lay their eggs where they were born. So the turtles may swim hundreds of km away for years and then they return to the area they were born to lay their eggs.

We had noticed a lot of lightening the previous evening at dinner and intermittent showers but sometime in the middle of the night (between 2am and 3am?) this was the wind…30 NE! There were times it would flip up ...

... Vallarta. It was smaller and is one of the original Mayan Palace Resorts in that area so not as fancy but still very nice. The staff was friendly and the units and grounds were spotlessly clean. We were able to walk to a variety of local area restaurants which we enjoyed trying each evening. We got groceries the first day so ate breakfast and sometimes snacks or lunch in our units. We were just a few doors apart on the 7th floor so that was convenient. ...
