    ... in a most unlikely location. Enjoyable meal (Peter had fish for a change) accompanied by some local musicians playing traditional and contemporary music. Had a sing along to some of their good music choices and of course paid the obligatory tip for their services.
    Arrived at our boutique hotel on old town Split about 9pm. Quick check in and off for a walk down through narrow alley ways, cobble stones squares and narrow streets to arrive ...

    ... settled in to our apartment. European Heat Wave - The temperatures here have continued to soar the last few days. It's been in the 90s the last few days, today reaching at least 100 at times. Looks like those temps will stay until we head home :-( We generally try to travel north in the summer to avoid these kinds of temperatures. Apparently Mother Nature didn't get the memo this year. Tomorrow we will explore the Old Town and hopefully find some interesting stuff in Split...and try ...

    ... normal;">There is something else that strikes me as curious about Croatia and that is that it seems to be a land of giants. When you consider that the Italians are, in the main, quite short and that Croatia is but a short distance away across the Adriatic, you have to wonder how that has happened.

    Late start today. After about 22 hours without sleep, we turned off alarms and went to sleep until whenever. Great breakfast at our hotel--Hotel Marmont--in Split. Spent the morning getting oriented to our cameras, the geography of the historic district in Split, and the main event in town--Diocletian's Palace.
