    ... the easiest way up through the brambles. With Roger giving us a hand up and Bill supervising from the "rear"...we all managed to scramble up each obstacle as we approach the flank of the ridge. Then we began the climb over the stoney mountain side. There are often some parts of the hike when you focus more carefully on where you will make each footstep than admiring the scenery. There was time to admire the view later.

    If you've been following our blog you know we've been away for a "health retreat". We traveled to Benissa, Spain, just 45 minutes north of our home in the mountains overlooking Calp.

    We stayed at the Obsidian Wellness Center. One of our hiking friends here in Campello has stayed there before and told us about it.

    We all survived the trip injury free, the hour walk back to town adding to the 'training effect' at the end. Especially as the croissants had run out 2 hours prior. I think we were all in bed by 10.30...how un Spanish!

    ... about soon crossing the border, looking out for some sort of sign or marker that would indicate this rather banal yet still noteworthy achievement, I had to venture out briefly into the fast lane. A lorry was overtaking a lorry and having been quite happy with a more sedate drift down the slower lanes for the first time I edged out towards the central reservation, along way from the shoreline of the hard shoulder.
