... there is no longer a sly grog shop at the foot of Lunatic Hill, however John Landers wrote the below story of an earlier time: “Now, at nearly the foot of the hill, was erected our biggest refreshment shop. It was also run as a boarding house, and a pie and coffee shop. If you wanted a cup of coffee and pie, you simply went in and put down 6p. But if you desired anything stronger, you put down half a sovereign and asked for 2 pies. A few minutes ...
Nerang, Queensland, Australia waynenwendy... In meinem Alkoholdelirium habe ich dann Powderfinger, The Grates, Robert Forster, The Boast People, The John Steel Singers und Dan Parsons live gesehen. Die Tickets haben wir umsonst von Freunden von Mic bekommen und das Geld, was ...
Burleigh Heads, Queensland, Australia pacificocean... arrived after an agonisingly long wait as they caught the big coach which took many turns and had many stops. Eager to find out if we had jobs up at Dunk Island, we tried to contact Voyager the employment agency but had great difficulty as the phones were still not working. The wonderflu YHA receptionists allowed us to use their phone to make the call. We do not have an offering for food & beverage roles, but may be considered for hosuekeeping. We should know in ...
Burleigh Heads, Queensland, Australia andrea_nzWelcome to Macleay Island The cats are still totally traumatised and won't leave the house. Chyna has ventured down the back steps and into the shed whilst I was there. But at the first sign of any strange noise, she was back, into the house and under the bed. Teisa the Brave has got down the steps before bolting back inside. (This continues still, after a week almost, despite us leaving a door open all day) We in the meantime have ...
Macleay, Australia aleneI ended up going out on Saturday night to a loocal bar called the Beach Bar - all the locals had recommended it for ages. It was actually a really good night and was packed - the music was amazing as it was old school house when I was a wee lass - stuff from MOS Annuals, uni tunes etc. Then some rapper DJ came on called Shaunee B I think, who seemed a bit of an odd act at first but then I realised he was really good and he had amazing confidence and ...
Byron Bay, Australia amandaseims... As long as Jess will touch water again haha. So it was a crazy 24hrs. We're sad about not experiencing the scuba diving. But what can you do. The whole time both of us were nervous . . . not once did we consider a crazy scary boat ride, we were too busy worrying about our ears hurting, etc. So thats pretty funny. We don't feel too bad about it, its a very adventurous story to tell. Jess thinks she should have known better because apparently her whole family has troubles ...
Surfer's Paradise, Australia jessntj... working at the tower block 8-5 before moving onto work at Sofitel 6-1am. When I got back I couldn't sleep because of surviving on adrennalin to get me through the day. I reckon I must have got a maximum of three hours. Tuedsday-Friday were the same every day(working wise), which is why I've had literally no time what so ever to do anything. I should be raking it in on my next paycheck and hopefully won't have to work for at least 2 ...
Brisbane, Australia bluenoseontour... for the airport and would like to say a massive thanks to both of them for coming out to see me and spoling me rotten whilst they were here. Me and the lads went for a bit of a kick about Sunday afternoon as the nerves started to kick in about the Equador game. We started drinking at about 7pm, with the game due to start at 1am. We made our way over to the English pub early to make sure we got in which turned out to be a good move. I started hitting the ...
