Once we got through Grand Canyon Park however, we went through nearly 350 miles of 2 lane highway, passing through the Navajo Reservation and the Apache Reservation. Now I could probably write book on why we didn't see anything for these 350 miles save roadside "Native American Art Stands" and I might, but for now let me say it was desolate in the extreme.

After an early breakfast we hit the road we had a long day ahead of us. We drove to Loveland Pass and the Continental Divide. The Loveland Pass is where the US Highway 6 crosses the Continental Divide between the Loveland Basin and the Arapahoe Basin. It is a long climb to the Pass but the scenery is fantastic with different scenery on both sides of the road. ... that looked very bare and golden in color. It didn’t look natural. It didn’t seem to fit the landscape. It turned out to be a mining operation where they were mining something called molybdenum. Even after researching it, I still don’t understand what it is. But the operation was actually breaking down the entire mountain, all the way to the peak, and that is why it did not appear natural. ... the plan was to go to the copper mountain ski resort and have a kids afternoon! All kids activities. for breakfast we had upma and then got ready to leave.

Lunch was at a vegetarian place, green tomato and then entered the ski area. The kids got day passes and we were all set for a fun day at the resort.

... delight. With a saucer sled one never knows where the landing will be and often it spins around so you go down the hill sideways or backwards.
