Wednesday 10th September 2014, Day 42 of 50: We have a tour booked of the United Nations Building at 11.15am. Lots of construction going on outside - we are told later that this is the part of the Capital Master Plan upgrade costing $1.9b and taking 5 years to complete. The section in the Secretariat Building is expected to be finished in 2 weeks so meetings can take place. ...

The night bus tour went from 8pm until 10pm. It was great the tour guide was informative and really entertaining. It took us down 7th Ave and through little Italy and over the Brooklyn Bridge and back. Great views of the NY skyline. Unfortunately it was hard to get good pics from a moving bus. The day started at 4:30am. Got up and packed, went and picked up the car and left for the airport. Dropped rental car off and realized I had left passports in the safe at the hotel. Had to et a taxi back to the hotel and back to airport (US$70) but thankfully I got them and we didn't miss our flight. ... cycling along to view Bethesda Fountain and Terrace overlooking lake with row boats and Loeb Boathouse. We walked purchased a ice block and walked around the area. We were lucky as there was a young couple under the terrace, where young gentleman was playing the violin, whilst young lady sung opera (the sound was unbelievable).
