... Hosking family home. We will be catching up each time we come this way. It's a bit like a 25th wedding tour with all the catching up we are doing. An overcast but warm 25 degree morning so we went to The Strand beach to paddle board. There were small waves and an onshore breeze so it was quite challenging. Sadly left the kids today to head back, poured all day, was going to call into Ponella Park but too wet. Went through some nice towns, Caldwell looked lovely, Innisfail was really big, and ended up around 60 klms north of Townsville at a free camp site called Bushy Parker Park at Rollingstone. Really nice, lots of space, but heaps of vans here. Good thing... not ...

How nice of her to come over and let us know why they weren't there - I thought she was sea sick again. We appreciated her letting us know - at least it's not "us" !!!

... swimming baths. We had then been advised to go and have a look at some of the botanical gardens, so we headed inland to go and have a wander round one of them. It was really pretty, and as we walked through, we also found they had an aviary within the gardens, housing parrots, chickens, ducks and few other birds. It also had one very lively two foot long snake that dropped down on a branch just by Mark's head. He jumped. I laughed. The ...

There is an island just a short ferry ride from Townsville aptly named Magnetic. It is a tropical paradise rising abruptly out of the ocean to a 400m peak. I know, I trekked every meter up. Magnetic is lightly populated with a few hotels, a number of holiday let homes and some charming pubs, cafes and restaurants. It is surrounded by bays with beautiful and often empty beaches. And it is December which brings us to stinger suits. For the uninitiated, which I ...
