It's Mother's Day. I've just spent the morning on the boardwalk having breakfast with my friend and our children. While they all ran off to play on the beach in their Sunday bests, the two of us chatted over coffee, then green tea, then a second breakfast of the kids leftover pancakes (which were to die for). We were in the zone. But then, for Veronika and I, that is ...

Great to be back with Jen and Simon and see them living in their house. Two years ago approx we were here and helped for a couple of weeks as they built their house. ... city. Although Kyriakos had told me how he thought Brisbane was okay, but not great, I thought it was pretty nice. It's somewhat like Sydney, but much smaller and nicer. There are cool spots to hang out everywhere and the botanic gardens are the nicest I've seen so far. On the first day I went to a museum (I forgot the name, which shows how not-special it was), saw the botanic gardens and just wandered around. After I returned to the house, I cooked dinner and met one of ...

... realised it was much different to what we expected. The farm is about 1000 acres all up, with about 10 acres for the house block and horse paddocks with the rest being scrub assigned for wildlife refuse. The owner, Jeni, lives here alone with her 5 dogs, 2 cats, 1 bird and 2 horses. She was heading to her other property (a Victorian vineyard) for 5 weeks and needed us to look after the place. The 5 cottages ...
