Day 58 - Enjoying the Gold Coast
... but Anton said the place had changed so much it wasn't quite the same. Anyway we did find a fun Irish pub and enjoyed a few pints of beer and cider while listening to a guitarist playing some all time hits. It was also great fun watching the Schoolies coming into the bar and playing silly buggers. Then we took a lovely stroll home and enjoyed being able to walk in the street at night. ... We were all obviously itching to get in to the water now that we were pro sand surfers, i mean how different could it be... A number of faceplants later i decided very! I had no problem catching the waves, im a good swimmer so paddling was easy. ... long ago all this used to be flood plains and with nothing here and then after one hotel being built since then it has been a rampage of stabilising of sand islands and building canals (watch out at night for the bull sharks) raising high rise structures, moving farming out and establishing golf courses or super high end apartments and houses.
