... wasn't great so wasn't really a day for the beach. We'd been here previously with Helena and Daniel and weren't impressed with it then or now. It has a bit of a chavvy feel to it with big chain shops, bars and cafes and huge high rise buildings. It lacks character and is a bit like what is imagine Benidorm to be like. We didn't waste much time before we high tailed it to the place in Australia we love the most, Byron ...

We left around 4pm as the kids had some homework to do and their routine to maintain.

Back to the hotel which had a bar, karaoke night. So we planted ourselves down and ...

... to surf. Along the gold coast hwy. No commercial outlets here. You can drive around the corner and there is yet another gorgeous beach.
      Stopped at Rainbow Bay.
All the beaches were busy and lots of kids were there. Many carrying their own surf board.
We went as far as Tweed. Decided there couldn't possibly be a better beach around the corner or at Byron so we turned back as we would have ...

Kayaking in Byron, and on to Surfers Paradise.

... We strolled around, took some snaps and spotted some Dolphins swimming about in the waves beneath the cape. Next stop was lunch before the drive to Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. We decided to revisit the Street Food alley and indulged in a taste of the Far East in a place called Orgasmic. Pittas and humous, kebabs and amazing Falafel etc, bloody lovely. It was a brief yet wonderfully fund trip to Byron and I think we were all a little disappointed we were ...
