Quite a long day today >60 miles. A lovely start along a "mystical" canal for 15 miles or so. Got a little lost, but had a lovely lunch of chips + mayonnaise in Bassenvelde. From there we battled into a strong wind for hours, finally arriving in Antwerp ...

Jordan: My favourite thing was messing with the guys trying to sell stuff on the street, and Vimy Ridge was really cool.

Bailey: The best part was trying to buy one of the guys that were selling stuff on the street's shoe. It was quite funny.

Cole: The best part of France was going to the Louvre and almost buying a barterer's shoe for 1 Euro. (He was going to cave, I know it!)

... in Antwerp, I felt like I had had enough. I would like to spend more time here and even experience the night life and get to know the locals. It's just got that cool, young, hip vibe. It's one of those places that when I think of Europe, I automatically think of Antwerp.

Tuesday 3rd April

Today I got up early, had my average breaky, packed and caught the bus back to the train station where I got the train to Gent. After the 20min train journey I arrived, put my stuff in the lockers and got the tram into the main old town. I had heard that Gent was like Brugge but with less tourists – I have to dispute this, not the less tourists ...

Tired and hungry

... upright - through tiredness! - it was indeed fortunate that I found a suitable eatery just around the corner from the hotel, where I got stuck into a huge plate of salmon with bread, pasta and a giant salad - plus two litres of water!

Then back to the hotel and got my head on the pillow, only to be woken by loud shouts from a group of young (you've probably guessed it) English men! In addition ...
