... until a turtle-sized mound of sand remained. Once she was satisfied, she did not loiter...she turned towards the sea and, without straying, went straight back into the water. ... waterfront to peruse the stalls of jewelry, food, toys, clothing, housewares, antiques, and plants. An afternoon nap was in order because we knew there would be another “spectacolo pirotecnico” at 11 PM! We wondered if this was in our honor, two departure eves, two fireworks displays!

... been designated a nature preserve. It sits just east of Knight Island. It can only be accessed by boat. A kayak will do just fine.

Knight Island – Bordered by Stump Pass at the northern tip, Knight Island is home to the Palm Island Resort. Since there is really not much other than the Resort on Knight Island, it is commonly referred to as “Palm Island.” This is where we spent the day with Linda (previous entry).

... and Clewiston, it is interesting to see smoke in the fields. Come to find out it was sugar cane harvesting time. Belle Glades and the surrounding area is called "Muck City" due to the large quantity of muck that sugarcane grows in. Learned that half of the sugarcane in the nation is grown in this area.
Driving along Lake Okeechobee it was hard to see the water for the 35-foot high Herbert ...

... and he strained a muscle. Later on day 4 we transported some low priority items that wouldn’t fit to Habitat for Humanity. Then we decided to try to cram what still wouldn’t fit into POD 2 into Mom’s car. In the end, we somehow got it all in. The big, ceramic, Mexican frog planter got to ride shot gun.
