    ... Shore Beach and headed down to Orange Beach. As we settled down on the white sands a huge storm suddenly appeared on the horizon and within minutes we were engulfed in torrential rain which was as warm as a bath. The kids couldn't care less and continued to swim in the sea while Lee and I huddled in the car. Within ten minutes it had passed. Crazy weather! It has been great visiting Alabama which is very much a less well trodden tourist state but nonetheless lovely. Next stop ...

    ... and was offered lemonade or coffee by the lady behind the counter. I saw some kind of homemade looking treat in a basket on the counter. I asked what it was and she said it was homemade Oreo candy. You know, like an Oreo only candy, is what she said. Yeah, I get it. And then I got it. Boy was it good. I also got a cup of coffee.     ... the Spring. The Blue Angels practicing at Pensacola, the dolphins dancing in the waves, the shrimp boats in the marina on the Bon Secour River, the barges being pushed down the canal, the stilt houses and condos lining the beach dunes are permanently etched as memories. It is truly a great place to vacation in the Spring. I am looking forward to returning next year.

    ... she is our best Greeting Card
    *Keep a lot of quarters around. Laundry is expensive.($1.50/washing; $1.00/drying)
    -The Gulf Shores area is a good place to roost for awhile.
    *There is a lot to occupy your hours. It is a tourist's paradise
    *It is a coastal climate. You are going to get hot and humid; rain and wind; sun and breeze. Chances of snow is slim to none. Wait an hour for the weather to change.
