... original Malaysians who are Muslim. Yesterday we walked through 'Little India' and had an authentic Indian lunch of curry, rice and naan, and also China town, which was quite touristy and expensive. There are vendors on every corner it seems round here selling drinks with lots of ice in, and also bags of fruit pieces, all for about 20p each! We need them regularly because of the heat. We also had to quickly buy some sandals!
Today we tried to go up the Twin Towers, but they ...

A weekend in KL

... grabbed a vegetarian dinner (complete with soy milk) from a hawker stand and sat down at a little table to watch the action. I bought some bags of fresh mango slices - so delicious and less than $0.50 each!

Saturday morning I got up early and bought a ticket for the hop-on hop-off city tour as it seemed like a good way to see a lot in a short period of time. I started out at the famous Petronas Towers ...

... Penang Hill. This is a MUST SEE in Penang. This beautifully styled colorful Chinese Buddhist temple was just breathtaking. We didn't anticipate how much there was to see there, and we wound up spending the better part of the day exploring all corners of this temple. We took waaay too many pictures there, trying to capture it all. Keith also rang a prayer bell the size of a small car, and we are not sure if he was ...

... new Man U shirt (which his brother kindly bought him) as it does attract a lot of attention with stall holders shouting out 'hey Mr MU' and 'You want another shirt....only RM20' (4 pounds) Gary was gutted that everyone thought his was a fake.

We have booked a bus ticket to Mersing down on the east coast. We are heading for an island called Pulau Tioman for some chill out time.....there ...

Onto KL

... cultures, religions and cuisines. To tell the truth it is actually quite a dump, rubbish, dirt, tramps, rats and cockroaches were our first visions of the Asian City at night. We hope to see a few nicer things tomorrow then fly to Cambodia and get the hell outta here!

So an uneasy sleep to try and get everything sorted for our Cambodian visas tomorrow, and a stay in, hopefully, a nicer hotel close to the airport for our early flight.

South East Asia - The final leg!!!!

... said that, we made sure we didn’t get back too late at night, as we were the only tourists around so we attracted a lot of attention. Brothel aside, there was a tube stop within 10 mins walking distance, so the hotel served its purpose for our short stay here, as we wanted to move onto the ‘real‘ Asia as quickly as possible. Speaking of the tube system it was efficient and easy enough to navigate ourselves around the city.

So, how did we fill our days in ...

Malaysia, Truly Asia!

... she… ANYWAYS, back to the Royalty. The Royal children had arrived! Very normal looking kids that were pretty shy, but I would be too if 100 people were staring at me and taking pictures. It was a pretty big event as there were professional dudes recording the entire thing. They went around the home and met with the children. Later on, they passed out radios to all the kids and bought everybody ice cream. Sweet, free ice cream! They left a ...

Kuala Lumpur - "Old McDonald ..." continued

... couldn't be bothered and had no mustache at all. They did some cowboy American line dancing to "Tell me Ma", an Irish folk song! hahah. Tom and I were right at the front of the queue to get into the park, so it seemed like they were doing the dance just for us, it was hilarious [Tom: I was so tempted to dance along]. One of the women was quite chubby, and she got tired really quickly, and started to forget the dancing routine; we assume she was new. I ...
