... memory is the cheese pie that we bought from a local bakery and some Greek cookies that hit the spot. Worst memory is that I couldn’t find an ATM that would take my US bank card which in turn prevented me from replenishing my dwindling supply of Euros which I would need two days later in Malta.
3. The Peugeot. It was a lot of fun to drive. Too bad we can’t get them in Canada.

We arrived in the town, Chania, to discover there were no buses to anywhere near our hotel and we would have to catch a taxi. To complicate matters, Mark discovered that we had lost the credit card. Big Bugger. We managed to scrape together enough cash to pay for the taxi to our apartment / hotel room, which was LOVELY, but unfortunately in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! No cafes, no ...

Today we will wander around the old city with trips to the open air market and the archeological museum.
The ferry and airplane rides seem to affect my (Nancy's) inner ear in a way that on land, everything continues to move. It is annoying and made hiking up and down rocky hillsides a little extra challenging. Hopefully it will quiet down now that there are nop more ferry rides.
... was magic but the cocktails were dreadful. Kevin’s martini had ouzo in it but the barman refused to do another. Chris’ margharita seemed to be alcohol free and Milly’s Manhattan didn’t taste very good. So we moved to Axos for more drinks – this time excellent, and then to our favourite eating place, Yannis, for dinner. The drinks and food there were superb too and they gave us free cheese pies and raki (as if we needed more booze). Nice.

So we rushed towards our gate (of course first through security) and me making some impressive acrobatic moves trying not to fall with my slippery flipflops on the marble stones. But we made it and are now on our way to Crete! I think that's all for now. Oh I just spend £2,- on a cup of tea! How expensive can it be?!

Crete, Greece lindsey-canada... the Minoans had previously traded, because their masters and, starting with Knossos, one after another, the ancient Minoan centers were lost or taken over by Mycenaeans. At Knossos, the excavation by Arthur Evans in the early 20th century was a mixed blessing: his personal wealth made the excavation possible and he had the foresight to realize that the ruins needed to be stabilized or they would deteriorate into an unrecognizable mass ...
