... This hotel is much larger and more typical to the U.S. than our previous hotels. We just dropped off our bags and went for another two hour drive to Lasithiti Plateau. Lasithiti Plateau is located inland and at a much higher elevation than Heraklion and is a series of twenty tiny villages. Some of the buildings in the villages still have no roofs from bombings in the World War Two invasion of Crete. The villages are known ...

... with beer. So since last night was our last night here, we decided to order the croquettes. They were very interesting! They're shaped like logs about the size of an egg roll and they're essentially deep fried gravy. Not the healthiest food, but they were delicious. Now what to do for dinner. WE thought to try out one of our ...

    Snorkeling and a hike

A travel blog entry by snibbertort on Jul 01, 2015

Today we went on a hike through the hills to a small cove. Once we got there, we went snorkeling and saw tons of little fish. I had never been snorkeling before, so it took some getting used to breathing through the snorkel, but once I got the hang of it I had a lot of fun. The water was so clear and blue that you could see all the way to the bottom. We had tea and cookies ...

... Maybe friends have abandoned us as well. I miss the Ontario North, the Canadian flag, and stupid comments in the media from Harper conservatives. I miss proper sized cars and fuel that costs $1.10. I miss refrigerating food that I enjoy eating. We all miss Maggie, our dog.

Although it has been an amazing adventure, each of us counts down the days until we reach home, thinking of how it will be to return. Lately, we ...
