... commemorating the victims of the Dirty War. Since the holiday fell on a Tuesday, Monday was a holiday as well. As a result, the streets were completely empty. We walked across the 12 lane-wide July 9th Avenue (their version of Paris' Champs Elysées) without seeing a single vehicle, and were able to take plenty of pictures of the large obelisk in the center of Plaza de la Republica (smaller version of our Washington Monument).

After 19 hours on the bus (which really was a treat!) we arrived in Buenos Aires. A short taxi ride later we quickly settled into our hostel, which turned out to be the complete opposite of the one in Paraguay: Unfriendly, a bit dirty, overpriced for what it was and with only idiots staying there. I guess it's a sign of getting older when a bunch of drunk 20 year old Australians partying in the lounge 24/7 become an annoyance, instead of something you want to join ;) ...
