    Miles driven so far = 11,155

    We have been "lounging" here on the white sand beaches for past few days. We drove 424 miles from Savannah on north Georgia coast down through Jacksonville then across thru Tallahassee (Florida State University) over to pan handle then south to Grayton Beach State Park which is 40 miles NW of Panama City.

    After a grueling five days of driving, it was time to find a nice campground and hang out for a few days. My plan was to stay at the state park on the beach near Destin. But the polar vortex spoiled things, so I found an RV park near Pensacola instead. The temperatures were in the 30's at night, and although it was only in the 50's during the day, at least it was sunny!     ... we drove around the area and checked out the beach and walked on the pier. What we noted was that the beach sand is very white and very fine, almost like sugar. While on the pier, we saw a couple sea turtles, but no fish or dolphins.     ... in time change. I was so thankful that the time change happened on the drive home though and not on the way to Destin as I had originally thought. We also hit a lot of rain to the point where I could hardly see where I was going. It was bad. I was glad to make it home safe and sound after white knuckling the steering wheel for hours.
