... thunderstorms and lightning. This morning, in between thunderstorms, we went out for a 3 mile walk through the slash pine forest, white sand dunes and along the beach. See photos. We returned just in time before another thunderstorm which featured close lightning, momentary loss of power (thank you surge protector) and torrential downpour. Now a little reprieve before next volley.

Monday, we begin our return west for ...

After a grueling five days of driving, it was time to find a nice campground and hang out for a few days. My plan was to stay at the state park on the beach near Destin. But the polar vortex spoiled things, so I found an RV park near Pensacola instead. We woke up early to enjoy the beach and hoped to see dolphins but no luck. The beach was stunning though. We had breakfast and packed up to leave. They gave us a CD on check out from the Inn of romantic beach music! Such a nice touch. I was sad to leave. It was so nice there.

We ended up with a 7 hour drive plus the hour that ...

Woke up to the sound of thunder which is unusual for the morning but I do love storms. It was lightning late into the night which we could see nicely from our balcony and from our bed. I fell asleep to it. But there was no thunder…until this morning. We went to breakfast which was included and fabulous. All fresh food and chefs preparing eggs/omelets and cute little baby waffles. Lots of fruit and fresh juices too along ...
