Many of the olives were to small to be harvested--but some of the trees already had black netting laying under them so that the ripe olives could fall on them and be easily gathered. Olives don't get picked--the growers rely on gentle winds to blow them off the trees. They must be picked up within just a few days or it is too late to use them because they rot.

They had managed to arrange cabins for the ferry to Italy!!
