      We went for a brief wander to the south along the bustling seafront and glimpsed the broad and busy beach where the same standards of beach attire as San Sebastián seem to be the norm. We retraced our steps passing beyond the Hotel just to suss out the location of J's conference and eventually found the impressive convention centre allowing J to register saving her from queuing in the morning.

Now the accommodation issue was our fault, we walked to the area that we thought it was and were confronted with what from a New Zealanders perspective looked like a welfare complex built onto a square, thinking this couldn't be where we were staying we walked around for an age with packs on before finally knocking on the door to what might be our place for the next 3 nights. Turned out it was and the location was perfect additionally staying in the square ...

      ... just off the main road called La Taverna which had a tempting menu del dia. We dawdled a bit and told the waiter that we were waiting for a friend to arrive. He asked if we knew what our friend would want to eat so we sorted out his choices over the phone and set an expectation for an arrival time. Tony only got a little lost and when I found him he was only one course behind us and he soon caught up. The food was pretty good and decent value for money, too.
